The History of SAAACA

With the recent incorporation of the Historical Firearms Society into SAAACA, the history of the two associations must converge and include the past of both societies.

In accordance with the wish of HFSSA to ensure the continuation of its title and ideals and in line with SAAACA's ideals of preservation and research, the history of HFSSA is presented here along with that of SAAACA.

Formed by a small group of enthusiasts in Johannesburg, 1994, as a result of a change to the then Arms and Ammunition Act (Regulations), which allowed for the recognition of Bona Fide Collectors, SAAACA has grown from an initial group of eight, to the premier collecting association in South Africa with a current membership of over 700.

Although the history of SAAACA continues to be written with the association's leading role in the collecting field, a brief history of the association to-date is presented here.
